Its relatively easy to obtain your Colombia Driver's License. There are many companies that will assist you with the entire process as outlined below.

Colombia Driver's License Requirements for Foreign Citizens:
- Colombia Visa
- Cedula (Colombia Identification)
- 2 Photos (passport size)
- 35,000 Pesos
You must have a Colombia Visa and Cedula (Colombian Identification) to obtain a driver's license. You are not required to take a written examination or driving proficiency test. You can apply for a license at any Colombia driving school and there are many in Medellin. When you apply at one of the schools they will process your application and obtain your license in approximately 2 weeks.
We recommend you hire a driving instructor for a couple of hours to learn the local laws and experience actual driving conditions .

If you do not have a Colombia Drivers License and rent a car or drive a friends car we recommend the following:
Always carry your Drivers License and Passport (or copy of your passport) and a cell phone for safety.
Before you travel to Colombia, visit any AAA office for your International Driving Permit. Bring your valid U.S. driver’s license, $15.00, and two original passport-type photos. You will be issued the permit while you wait at the AAA office. Valid in over 150 countries, the permit contains your name, photo and driver information translated into ten languages.
